SAN FRANCISCO, July 23 (San Francisco News Online) — Marin County prosecutors have filed misdemeanor charges against Sausalito City Manager Elaine Forbes, who appeared Wednesday in Marin County Superior Court and agreed to undergo a mental health evaluation, according to court proceedings and her attorney.

Judge Cindee Mayfield released Forbes on her own recognizance after the brief hearing, court records show. Forbes had been held in the Marin County Jail on $50,000 bail before the release order.

Marin County court records list four misdemeanor counts tied to a yacht incident in Sausalito, including loitering on private property, theft of personal property and two counts of lodging without the owner’s consent. Forbes was arrested over the weekend after law enforcement found her aboard a vessel in Sausalito, according to arrest reports cited in the case.

Defense attorney Randall Knox said Forbes would be evaluated at Marin General Hospital. KQED reported that she is due back in court Aug. 11.
