NEW ORLEANS, June 27 (DC Times Online) — James Carville said Democrats should consider a formal split and said he cannot stay in the same party as Darializa Avila Chevalier, sharpening his criticism of the party’s internal divisions during a podcast appearance.

On the Politicon podcast, the veteran Democratic strategist said it was time for Democrats to talk about ‘the S-word: schism.’ ‘I really do,’ he said. Carville also said, ‘I’m done’ and ‘I’m not in that f—ing political party.’

He said he did not want to belong to a party ‘that denies the right of the state of Israel to exist’ and told critics to ‘start your own movement’ or ‘form your own party.’

Carville’s comments build on a July 2025 New York Times op-ed in which he wrote that the Democratic Party was ‘steamrolling toward a civilized civil war’ and said the conflict was ‘necessary’ but should be delayed until after the 2026 midterm elections.
