NEWARK, N.J., July 17 (Nationwide Times) — Panasonic is recalling 11,480 electric toaster ovens in the U.S. and 2,184 in Canada after federal regulators said a cord-insulation defect could create a shock or fire hazard for shoppers who bought the appliances on Amazon, Costco and other online sites.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall covers Panasonic model NB-G200 toaster ovens sold online nationwide from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170. The stainless steel units have the Panasonic name on the front and the temperature knob on the bottom.
The commission said it has received four consumer reports of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report that the product stopped working. No fires or injuries have been reported.
In a Costco member letter, Panasonic Corporation of North America said Costco records show some members bought Item #2024930 between February 2026 and April 2026. The company told customers to stop using the toaster ovens immediately and said they can return them to Panasonic for a refund or to a Costco warehouse customer service window for a full refund. The CPSC identified Panasonic Corporation of North America as the importer and Panasonic Manufacturing (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. in China as the manufacturer.
